The Museum main goal is to reach the highest standards of quality, and only by offering the best attributes, the gallery serves as a resource for both those who are already familiar with art and those for whom art is a new experience. Through exhibitions, programs, research and publications, the Museum documents and interprets its own collections their world propose information and perspective on art through time and throughout the world, and again, as the MFA highlights: "the Museum holds its collections in trust for future generations. It assumes conservation as a primary responsibility which requires constant attention to providing a proper environment for works of art and artifacts. Committed to its vast holdings, the Museum nonetheless recognizes the need to identify and explore new and neglected areas of art. But what's new?From July 22 2023 to July 28 2025 the museum is delighted to introduce the eagerly exhibition "Tender and Loving Collection" that will be hosted at the museum throught the next two years. This extraordinary collection is a testament to the product of beauty and emotional resonance that art can evoke. Curated with expetional emphasis on tenderness and affection, around 100 works from the MFA’s collection—including recent acquisitions and objects that have never been on view before—define, depict, and demonstrate many forms of care through five thematic groupings: threads, thresholds, rest, vibrant matter, and adoration. From intimate portraits that capture the sweetness between loved ones to vibrant landscapes that evoke a sense of peace and serenity, each artwork in this collection invites viewers to think about the power of love and how important it is to understand the artist's meaning of the painting.
From October 8 2023 to January 15 2024, in the Museum there will be the exihibition of Sargent and co-organized by Tate Britain, "Fashioned by Sargent" delves into the intricate relationship between the renowned artist and his wealthy clientele, focusing on their attire and fashion. This exhibition uncovers Sargent's ability to portrait his subjects' visual representations by exploring the liberties he took in carefully choosing their clothing, which allowed him to transform their unique personalities, social status, occupations, gender identities, and nationalities. Showcasing approximately 50 of Sargent's paintings, the exhibition also features over a dozen authentic period garments and accessories, offering fresh insights into the interplay between fashion and the creative process of this beloved artist.
