Jim Avignon (born February 28, 1968) is a German pop artist and representative of the Art modeste.

Avignon as a painter, musician, illustrator and conceptual artist. The center of his work is Berlin, especially the clubs of the local techno scene.

Jim Avignon began his formal career as a painter in the early 1990s, decorating and setting rave events. The central motif in Jim Avignon’s art is speed, the expression of the “lifestyle of the techno generation” and “the failure of the individual” in a constantly accelerating world.

Despite the implementation based on pop culture, Avignon’s pictures often refer critically to contemporary problems such as bribery and corruption (“the man behind me”) or the lack of real communication in the so-called information society.

In 1992 Avignon participated in the Documenta X – Kassel – with a special performance where he painted a new painting every day just to destroy it the same day.

His works have been exhibited all over the world and, in particular, in Germany, France and Switzerland.
