Fulvio Di Piazza was born in Siracusa on 1969 and studied at the Urbino Art Academy, makes large oil paintings of fantastical scenes with lush forests, spiraling volcanic smoke, islands in the sky, and vividly colored sun light. Amid these, there are frequently large floating heads or animals floating in the center of his canvases, which upon closer inspection are actually composed of delicately and minutely detailed landscapes. Di Piazza is part, with other 3 artists, of what is called the '' School of Palermo '', an artistic partnership that became an important component of the Italian art scene between the nineties and the 2000s. In March 2018 the Riso, Museum of Contemporary Art of Sicily, honored these four artists with a collective exhibition. Currently Di Piazza lives and works in Palermo.
