Poseidone

Barbara Pietrolino / Poseidone

Poseidon is part of a series of works inspired by the classical tradition, referring directly to the "Bust of Neptune" by the French sculptor Lambert-Sigisbert Adam. In these paintings the stability of the marble statue is contrasted with the movement of color, in particular the gold which represents the preciousness of the melting material and therefore the transience of life.
We therefore pass from a stillness that represents safety to a movement of color that, melting and dripping, expresses the loss of certainty, thus entering a state of total perdition of one's soul.

Size: 100 cm X 60 cm
Period: 2022
