When I start a job, a dialogue is established with the materials: they speak to me, they have their own language and prosody and from there a dialogue is combined between me and the materials.
Then begins a type of struggle between the idea that I wish to express and the constraints of the "material" form that I want to give it.
The development and changes are dictated or submitted by the materiality, the very vision of this work.
Thus everything becomes an unavoidable dialogue between the original idea, born from everyday sensation and the materials...."
As a child, Banu Grote was already painted...
In her parents' house, there were always colors and materials that fascinated her from an early age.
The inspiration of her current works extracts the artist from ancient myths and hidden recesses of the human soul.
She feels a deep connection with nature and creates a picturesque dialogue between nature and the psyche.
For Banu Grote, art has a function, it is an instrument for people and a language with which artists and viewers can exchange ideas about souls.
This is why the artist uses themes and materials such as leaves, tree bark, sand, earth, fabric or dust, associated with nature.
She lets her instincts guide her while painting, allowing her gestures, materials and subconscious to flow into the creative process.
Banu Grote has exhibited her works at exhibitions in New York, Boston (États-Unis), Switzerland and Germany ( Basel, Zürich, Baden Würtemberg and various cities in Turkey).
